감동 받지 말고 행동합시다 (Talk is Cheap. Action is Valuable.)- In Korean & English

저는 말만 하고 행동하지 않는 사람에게 거부감을 느낍니다. 특히 말을 화려하지만 삶으로 드러나지 않는 사람을 대하면 마음 문을 닫게 됩니다.

이런 제 성향 때문인지, 가정교회 안에는 자연스럽게 “열매로 말한다”라는 금언이 자리 잡았습니다. 말이 아니라 열매로 보여 주자는 것입니다.

가정교회 목회자들은 말하는 사람보다 행동하는 사람을 존경합니다. 성경적 교회를 외치는 사람보다 실제로 성경적인 교회를 세운 사람에게 마음을 줍니다. 경건의 삶을 가르치는 사람보다 경건하게 살아가는 사람에게 끌립니다. 리더십을 강의하는 사람보다 말없이 존경과 따름을 이끌어내는 사람을 따릅니다.

SNS에 아름다운 미담을 올리거나 카톡으로 공유하는 이들이 많습니다. 미담 자체는 감동적이지만, 읽고 나면 늘 이런 생각이 듭니다. “그래서 어쩌자는 거지?”

진정한 감동은 행동으로 이어져야 합니다. 정말 감동했다면 감탄하고 칭찬하며 다른 사람에게 전하는 데 그치지 말고, 그 사건을 작게라도 자신의 삶 속에 재현해야 합니다. 훌륭한 선배 목사님이나 선교사의 헌신적인 삶에 감동했다면, 그처럼 살기를 결심하십시오. 감동적인 이야기를 들었다면, 그 주인공을 조금이라도 닮으려 힘쓰십시오. 이것이 진정한 감동입니다.

I have a strong aversion to individuals who speak eloquently but lack action. It's difficult for me to listen to people who use dazzling and eloquent words without substance. I value those who demonstrate the truth of their words by showing tangible fruit, not just simply talking about it. Actions speak louder than words.

Some people send me heartwarming stories via social media or through text messages. When I read them, I can’t help but wonder, “So what are you going to do about it?” True admiration goes beyond mere praise, applause, and telling other people about it. It leads to action.

If we are truly moved by someone's selfless actions, we will emulate their actions. If we are truly touched by an inspiring story, we will try to inspire others.

This mindset made me pay more attention to those who have built a biblical church, not those who simply talk about it. To those who live a godly life, not those who just advocate for it. To the leaders who actually have faithful followers, not those who merely lecture on leadership.

Talk is cheap. Action is valuable.
